The Mighty Detail
Economics: Data published yesterday suggests that London accounts for over a third of UK corporation tax receipts. The data from the ONS covers 2024 to 2025, with corporation tax receipts in the capital totalling £33.4 billion. The UK’s total corporation tax receipts over the same period came to £93.1 billion.
Business: Quantinuum, a quantum computing company, is seeking to raise $1.05 billion in a US IPO. It would give the company a valuation of around $12.7 billion. Quantinuum was formed in 2021 following the merger of US-based Honeywell Quantum Solutions and UK-based Cambridge Quantum.
Quantum computers are extremely powerful computers.
Markets: Shares in Ferrari fell by over 8 per cent yesterday. It follows the unveiling of the company’s first fully electric car, the Ferrari Luce. The design of the car has been met with criticism for departing from previous Ferrari styles. The $640,000-car has a top speed of 190 miles per hour.
Foreign Affairs: The World Health Organisation has warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is “outpacing” the response. The death toll has reached around 220 and there are over 1,000 suspected cases.
The outbreak is largely confined to the northeast of the DRC but some cases have been reported in Uganda.
Security and intelligence: President Putin has signed a decree cancelling the debts of new military recruits. The recruits must be in the army for at least a year and must be fighting in Ukraine. The relief will apply to debts of up to 10 million rubles (£103,241).
Domestic politics: The Green Party is to limit its campaigning in the Makerfield by-election. The decision has reportedly been made in order to avoid a split in the left-wing vote (which would otherwise help Reform UK to win the seat).
A small poll by Survation puts Labour on 43 per cent, Reform on 40 per cent and the Greens on 3 per cent.

✏️Life coaching quote of the day
“Many people won't attempt something unless they can find an example of someone else who is already doing it. Rely on this type of thinking too much and you'll never do anything interesting.
Your path through life is unique. It is important to extract lessons from the experiences of others, but you can't wait for a perfect example to take action. You are the example.” – James Clear, writer
Mighty takeaway: Make your life yours, don’t worry about other people.
