The Mighty Detail
Economics: The OPEC+ group of oil producing nations agreed to increase oil production modestly in August by 188,000 barrels a day. Brent crude oil futures are currently trading at around $72 a barrel after reaching over $120 a barrel at the end of April.
Business and markets: Uber has decided to pause its planned food delivery expansion in Europe. It is currently pursuing a takeover of Delivery Hero, a Germany food delivery company. Uber’s €10 billion bid for the company was previously rejected in May.
Foreign Affairs: Keiko Fujimori has been declared the winner of Peru’s Presidential election. The conservative politician, and daughter of Peru’s former President Alberto Fujimori, won 51.1 per cent of votes cast. This equates to just over 49,600 votes out of 18 million cast.
Moody’s has suggested that Fujimori’s win could boost investor confidence.
Security and intelligence: President Trump spoke to President Putin and President Zelensky on Saturday ahead of a NATO leaders’ summit which begins tomorrow. All sides indicated a wish to end the war but a Kremlin spokesman accused Ukraine and its allies of wishing to extend it.
The agenda for the NATO summit is available here and includes a dinner on Tuesday evening from 6.30pm and a leaders’ meeting on Wednesday morning at 11.15am.
Domestic politics: Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage, is being criticised after benefitting from an association with convicted criminal George Cottrell and not declaring it. Farage is reported to have accepted financial support from Cottrell and to have received staffing support before he became an MP.
In 2017, Cottrell was imprisoned for eight months in the US after pleading guilty to wire fraud.

✏️Life coaching quote of the day
“A Native American elder once described his own inner struggles in this manner: Inside of me there are two dogs. One of the dogs is mean and evil. The other dog is good. The mean dog fights the good dog all the time. When asked which dog wins, he reflected for a moment and replied, ‘The one I feed the most.’” – George Bernard Shaw, writer
