The Mighty Detail
Economics: The President of Botswana has declared a public health emergency following cuts in American aid to the country and a downturn in the global diamond market.
Botswana is the world’s leading producer of diamonds by value and diamond exports account for 30 per cent of Botswana’s national revenues.
The new President campaigned last year on a promise to reduce the country’s dependence on diamonds.
Business and markets: European and French stock indices fell yesterday on the news that the minority French Government could collapse in September. It comes after French Prime Minister, François Bayrou, called a confidence vote to be held on the 8th September over his Government’s budget plans.
Foreign Affairs: Australia is expelling the Iranian ambassador to Canberra over at least two antisemitic activities. It comes after the Australian intelligence agency found that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard was involved in arson attacks last year on a kosher restaurant in Sydney and on a synagogue in Melbourne.
Security and intelligence: It is being reported that Ukraine has taken out at least 17 per cent per cent of Russia’s oil refining capacity in recent weeks. Strikes on 10 Russian refineries have disrupted supply equivalent to 1.1 million barrels a day. There are reports of queues at some Russian petrol stations and rationing.
Domestic politics: Reform UK has said that it would stop anyone coming across the English Channel in small boats from claiming asylum in the UK. Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage, also said in a speech yesterday that it would provide £2 billion to support countries to take back migrants.

✏️Life coaching quote of the day
“They will criticize you for what you are, for what you are not, and for what they think you are.
They will judge you for what you do, for what you don't do, and for what you fail to do. They will talk about you for what you say and for what you keep silent about.
They will point at you for your successes and for your mistakes, for your decisions and for your doubts. No matter how much you try to please, there will always be opinions.
So, live for yourself, because in the end, the only thing that matters is being true to your own path.” – attributed to Harrison Ford, actor
Mighty takeaway: Live for yourself and not for others. Others will always have an opinion of you no matter what you do.
That’s it for this Wednesday morning. Thank you for reading!
Cheerio!
